What is the MAYA principle?

The MAYA Principle stands for: “Most Advanced, Yet Acceptable”.

It’s a principle that provides users with enough of what they already use and understand with enough new features that are easy to adopt.

Raymond Loewy (1893-1986) is often referred to as the father of Industrial Design

Loewy sought to give his users the most advanced design, but not more advanced than what they were able to accept and embrace.

In film production, we have adopted this principle to best describe how we work:

we choose the best and most suitable solutions – but always within the limits of the available budget and in accordance with the specific requirements of producers, artists and technical limitations.
