Vidraru Dam — Mountain Lake & Concrete Architecture

Vidraru brings together monumental engineering and mountain scenery in Argeș County, Romania. Completed in 1966 on the Argeș River, the curved concrete dam rises 166 metres, creating a striking contrast with the surrounding landscape.

The dam’s geometry offers a strong visual identity for scenes involving scale, height and infrastructure. The wider area adds lake views, wooded slopes and mountain roads, providing different settings to explore within the same location brief.

For filming, the exact viewpoint and production footprint are essential. Access to the dam, roadside positions, lakeside areas and operational infrastructure must be assessed individually, alongside parking, equipment access and any need to manage public traffic.

Water levels, weather and operational works can change the appearance and accessibility of the location. Reference images should therefore be treated as an introduction; current conditions and permissions must be checked for the proposed shooting dates.
