Sighișoara — Medieval Citadel, Transylvania

Located in the heart of Transylvania, Sighișoara offers a distinctive setting of cobbled streets, colourful historic façades, fortified towers and intimate squares. Its UNESCO-listed historic centre preserves the character of a medieval town that remains inhabited today.

The hilltop Citadel brings together narrow lanes, traditional houses and architectural details that reward closer exploration. Landmarks such as the Clock Tower, the Covered Stairway and the surrounding fortifications provide recognisable focal points, while quieter corners offer more understated settings.

Below the Citadel, the Lower Town adds a different perspective, with streets and buildings extending into the Târnava Mare valley. Together, these areas offer a range of settings to explore for period stories, contemporary scenes and documentary work.

As a living town and a heritage site, Sighișoara requires location planning around residents, visitors and conservation requirements. Filming access and any arrangements for equipment, vehicles or control of public areas must be assessed for the specific spaces and production involved.
